"I was 12 years old when I refused to go to school. My parents found Nicole but I thought it was going to be the same old thing. Nicole turned out to be the most amazing mentor for me, and we co-created my own education where I got to lead in what we explored. I am 20 now, and I couldn’t be where I am today without Nicole!"
Do you need help homeschooling or unschooling your child or teen?
Maybe you have chosen to homeschool or unschool your child or teen or perhaps you tried school and found it just didn't work. Or maybe mental health struggles or other circumstances made school no longer an option, so homeschooling or unschooling chose you.
It can feel really scary to forge a new path ahead but the opportunity to create a truly individualized education tailored to who your child is can be really amazing. Perhaps you don’t want to do it all by yourself and want a little help or maybe a lot of help supporting your child’s alternative education journey.
I help families intentionally design and create a personalized education based on their child’s unique needs. I offer engaging sessions for kids and teens as well as parent support and consulting.
My approach
Students who exit the school system have often experienced some level of school trauma or other difficulty. To meet these children's unique needs, my approach is flexible, child centered, and adaptable. Unwinding years of negative learning experiences and helping a child re-engage with learning can take time. I am very understanding of their difficulties and bring compassion, deep listening and warm care to our sessions.
Through our sessions, I empower children to express their needs and to co-direct their learning experience with their parents and/or myself. Together we can work to identify and foster meaningful real life and academic skills to help your child develop on their unique educational journey. We can co-create unique projects to meet your child's individualized needs. And we can have a lot of fun doing it!
This work is truly individualized and will vary person to person. Here are some examples of ways that I can potentially support your child:
Academic Support
• Specific subject instruction
• Assistance preparing for tests like the GED
• Help working through home school curriculum
• Support for taking community college classes or other structured classes
Skill Development
• Executive functioning (time management, organization, planning etc.)
• Finding a balance between freedom and structure
• Developing educational goals
• Reading comprehension, writing, spelling
Meaningful Life Skills
• Fostering self understanding
• Identification and support of gifts and areas of struggle
• Career exploration
• Speaking and leadership development
• Social-Emotional Learning
• Unique project development
• Mini thesis creation
• Support during the transition of exiting from school
• Self care/healthy living
These are just some of the potential ways we can work together. To learn more about how we can co-create a unique personalized educational program and see if it is a good fit for your family, please contact me for a free 20 minute consultation.

“We have been using Nicole as a tutor and mentor for the last three years for our 16 year old daughter. Nicole has shown herself to be empathetic, flexible and highly intelligent. Our daughter adores Nicole and often asks to see her even when there are no scheduled appointments. Nicole has a wide range of knowledge which makes it easy to change curriculum whenever necessary. Because of her flexibility we have been able to provide a more than expected education to our daughter in a non-traditional setting."
- Mom of a 16 year old
"From my work with Nicole in the past 3 years, I've learned that I like structure more than I thought I did, I'm good at math and I have the ability to change the world. I am stronger mentally and physically and I have a healthier outlook on life. Nicole listens and co-creates my ideas and hers into a schedule. I've learned that I shouldn't be afraid to ask for what I need, that I can get my vitality back, and that there are more jobs out there than just doctor, lawyer etc. "
-16 year old
"Real, compassion and learning are three words I would use to describe my sessions with Nicole."
- 6th grader
"I appreciate that I can be who I really am with Nicole."
- 5th grader
