Mentoring
"From working with Nicole for 3 months, I feel happier and better about myself. I see my brilliance more than my tricky areas. I don't feel as sad anymore. I see that holding everything in made it worse."

The transition to adulthood can be challenging and growing up in the Bay Area can be stressful. I know because I’ve lived it. I’ve spent years seeking out helpful resources and ways to stay calm and discover my purpose amidst the stress and pressure of the Bay Area. I love sharing the tools and resources I’ve learned along the way by offering support to girls and young women through my mentoring work.
Who do you work with?
I work with girls between the ages of 10 - 25. I work with this age group because there are many transitions and important decisions made during those ages:
What is the benefit of providing support during transition times?
These transitions can feel overwhelming and extra support during these times can help girls navigate them so the challenges they face do not become so immense that they lose the ability to cope. From my experience, having a mentor who has gone through similar challenges and fully sees you, hears you and accepts you just as you are can be very beneficial. I help empower girls to develop resilience, strength and self confidence to meet these challenges so they may come out of these transition periods strong, empowered and self-assured. Together we can navigate the challenges, celebrate the successes, and plan for the future.
What areas do you work on?
Everything I offer is personalized for each individual. Here are some areas that I can help with:
- Managing the stress of high school and college applications
- Managing school overload
- Developing healthy self-esteem
- Healthy habits to enhance learning and life
- Exploring possible college majors and career paths
- Techniques to cope with stress and pressure
- Independent living skills
- Speaking up and self-advocacy
- Personal development
- Executive Functioning
- Setting goals with support and accountability to achieve them
- Understanding and supporting areas of brilliance and challenges
How do you work on these areas?
Depending on your child and her desires, we may explore these topics through conversation, joint research, creative expression, writing or whatever modality works the best for her. We may also include mindfulness or movement if she wants.
This work is very customizable. Many of my clients receive a combination of mentoring and educational therapy support from me.
Are you the same thing as a therapist?
No, I am not a trained psychotherapist. I will work with or refer to a therapist if your child's situation and needs are outside of the scope of my work.
